carol brown makes me smile
So last night I found myself at the Flight of the Conchords show at the Rimac in San Diego. First off, I don't even remember the last time I saw a show in a gym. Odd. And those Rimac parking signs drove me up the wall and are less than intuitive. Gah.
Anyhow, humor and comedy stylings aside, I was impressed. The harmonies, use of an omnichord and the New Zealand Orchestra (comprised of a single cello player due to "cutbacks") was all done tastefully and implemented seamlessly. Kudos to those dudes. Though the personal highlight for me was that Carol Brown song from Season 2. That riff makes me smile and that "awwwww" vocal hook (minus the female choir of course) is such a head swayer. Oh, and of course the Paul Simon reference. Lee just reminded me the other day that we caught a bit of their live set at last year's Sasquatch Festival in Washington... I don't recall, but then again I think I was in awe of the Gorge and mexican food in catering.
